Katherine McPhee Biography
Katherine Hope McPhee was born on March 25, 1984 in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter to vocal singing coach Patricia Burch McPhee who inspired young Katherine to focus on her vocals since the age of two. Her mother, Patricia recognized a singing tallent in young Katherine and decided to train her.
McPhee attended Notre Dame High School, and graduated in 2002 at the top of her class. There, she was also a student body vice president, varsity swimmer, and a thespian. Her unique singing capabilities, and gorgious looks braught her fame and popularity while in highschool. Infact, she was nominated as Homecomming Princess in her senior year.
Katherine attended Boston Conservatory for her post secondary education. She stayed there for only semesters, while majoring in musical theater. She decided to leave school early because her manager suggest that she should try out for television pilots in Los Angeles. It was at this moment when young Katherine McPhee’s career started to take flight. She landed the role of Paramount Girl in the 2006 musical film about the life of Hank Garland, “Crazy”. She was also lead actress in productions of “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”, and “Annie Get Your Gun”. Her performance in “Annie Get Your Gun” won her a nomination in 2005 for the Theatre L.A. Ovation Award.
Although her career started taking flight during early 2006, most of us know Katherine because of her success on the fifth season of “American Idol”. Upon her audition, all judges were blown away by her tromendous vocal capabilities, and immediately put her through to the next round. She quickly gained popularity on the show, and people began reffering to her as “McPheever”. Undoubtedly, young Katherine found herself in the final two, and ended up runner-up to Idol winner, Taylor Hicks.
Since then, Katherine has signed to American Idol serious creator Simon Fuller’s 19 recordings limited and Sony BMG’s RCA Records. She had also released her debut single, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/My Destiny” on June 27, 2006.
Katherine, being only 23 has made quite a name for herself by using her vocals as a tool for success. Her on stage appearance, performance and charisma has made Katherine Mcphee a force to reken with in the female American pop singer category.
